Isang Tsuper-Interview kay Jerald (A Tsuper Interview with Jerald)

W:

W:
May alter-ego ba si tsuper-man sa totoong buhay?

J:

W:
Magkakaroon ba ng tsuper-woman sa future?

J:walang plano para sa tsuper-woman in the near future but there will be other female characters coming up. una na si nurse anne, si binibining ayco at ang super villain na si annie batobalani! abangan n'yo yun. matindi ang mga fight scenes na naiisip ko between her and tsuper-man.

W:
Ano ba ang iba mong hobbies?

J:

W:
Boxer or briefs (or commando)?

J:
either will do. pero pag natutulog na, mas gusto ko yung brief. yung bacon na ang garter.
W:

J:
wala e, sa ngayon. pero may mga plano akong gumawa ng mga sarili kong design ng mga t-shirts. at least for myself to wear. hehe...

W:

J:
ang aking website-website-tan: http://warchildstudios.blogspot.com
maraming salamat!

English Version:

I had the chance to interview one of my respected and favorite Pinoy comic artists (and have a crush on). Here's Jerald Dorado, creator of Tsuper-man.

W:
First of all, quick question, did you wake up on the right side of the bed today? You're not fussy today, are you?

J:
Yes. No.

W:
Hmmm... You're from Rizal, Laguna, I see. I'm from there too. I mean, from Laguna. Lumban, Laguna to be exact. Have you tasted bibingkang itlog (Lumban's famous dish)

J:
Bibingkang itlog? Hmmm... That question sounds kinky. Bibingkang Itlog? Hehe... In the past, my friend's mother sells bibingka in the country. It's the best, eventhough it's not as fancy as the bibingkas that are being sold here in the city. It has salted egg and coconut strings, that's it, but it's the best compared to the bibingka sold here in Manila. And one thing more, it's only 5 pesos! Wherein here in the city, it costs about 50 pesos, and it doesn't taste quite as good.
(For people's information, bibingka is a euphemish for a woman's pu**y, and an egg is a euphemism for a man's ba**s - Willow)

W:
Okay, so here is the real question, when did you discover your drawing talents?

J:
Hmm.. I started drawing maybe when I was 2 or 3 years old. That's because when I was 4 years old, someone told me that I was very good at it. My first theory was, the person who praised me didn't know anything about drawing, that's why he admired me like that. Coz really, imagine that, at 3 years old, I probably have minimal drawing talents if any, but he admired me so much. And secondly, maybe that guy was only toying with me. Well, good for me that I believed him.

W:
Who was your first inspiration?

J:
At first, like most kids my age, robots like Voltes V and Daimos were my favorite drawing subjects. Also G.I. Joe and the cast of Batibot. When I grew up, super heroes were the ones that consumed most of the back pages of my notebook when I was in elementary and highschool. Now, irony, tragedy and everyday life are my favorite themes. Basically, I have my own observations about the things around me. (Batibot is the Pinoy version of Sesame Street - Willow)

W:
Does Tsuper-man have an alter-ego in real life?

J:
Tsuper-man's alter-ego is the Pinoy passenger. The Pinoy passenger is my alter-ego in comics. Me, my alter-ego in real life is the Pinoy passenger, and also the Evil Twin for my more eccentric side.

W:
Will there be a Tsuper-woman in the future?

J:
There's no plan for Tsuper-woman in the near future, but there will be other female characters coming up. First, there's Nurse Anne, Mademoiselle Ayco and the super villain Annie Batobalani. Wait for them. The fight scene between her and Tsuper-man will be extraordinary.

W:
Do you have any other hobbies?

J:
I like singing and writing songs. Those are my other talents that I haven't been using at the
moment. I will get back to them on the next chapter of my life. As for other hobbies, hmmm... None at the moment. I like telling stories and bugging my friends.

W:
Boxer or briefs (or commando)?

J:
Either will do. But when I go to sleep, I prefer briefs, the one with bacon-like garters. (Yum! - Willow)

W:
Based from what I have read in your blog, you're a positive person (unlike other Pinoys there that they see nothing but negative things about the Philippines. I'd like to bash their balls with a round-house flying kick). What is your secret for having a very positive outlook in life?

J:
Hmmm.. Being positive, that's my favorite trait about myself. I don't know why I'm like that, and I don't know why I view life as a piece of cake. Maybe because I'm confident about myself and my talents. I accept my capabilities and I know where my limitations are. I have been into deep shits before because of over-confidence, so it's not good when it's too much.
Maybe because when something happens in my life that are not so pleasant, I don't blame other people for it, instead, I search myself for the reasons why it happened. When I find the reason why, I search for the solution. I am very patient and I have great perseverance in searching for answers. I think I'm like that because I'm, ahem! an artist.

W:
Do you have tsuper-man stuff that your fans can avail of?

J:
None for now, but I have plans to create my own t-shirt designs. At least for myself to wear.

W:
Where can your legions of fans write you (and to ask for your sexy pictures)

J:
Atse-tse. Legions of fans? Do I have those? Heheh... But if you want, you can write me at jerald_dorado@yahoo.com and you can also post on my blog's tag board at http://warchildstudios.blogspot.com

W:
If a fan wants to meet you in person, what can they bring to appease your holiness?

J:
Kevlar vest, helmet, and the shield that a riot police uses. Protection from Anne.

W:
A question from your female admirers, has someone captured your heart?

J:
As I said before, it's Anne.

W:
For other new aspiring artists who admire you, what's your advice?

J:
Hmm... I'm still one of them, but if there are other comic artists who are inspired by my work, thanks to all of you. I am a great admirer of the wonderful art of comics. It's a cliche, but you have to love what you do and to put your heart in whatever your hands create.
You don't have to kid yourself and write stories that you think other people will like. First of all, you have to be happy for your own creations that are being laid upon that piece of paper. A work of art is not measured by it's monetary value, but by its impact to the heart and mind of anyone who sees and read it.

W:
Lastly, time for a commercial, is there anything that you'd like to plug?

J:
