Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig
Directed by: Lino Brocka
Sharon Cuneta .... Lupe Velez
Tonton Gutierrez .... Carding
Loretta Marquez .... Lupe's Mother
Rey "PJ" Abellana
Ayyy, titah! This is the very first Lino Brocka-made film that I have ever watched. So much hullaballoos regarding him as the greatest Pinoy director ever. And you know what? Agree akoh! Tang'ina, the things that he made Ate Shawee do in this film, it's unbelievable!!!
Ate Shawee begs for a living with her mother who can't walk. She also has a parasite step-dad who physically abuses both of them. Sometimes, she goes thru the garbage to make some money. They live in a slum which is full of people who are poor, depressing, jerks, who do not have ambition. But not her, she bows to get outta that hell, by hook or by crook. She bows not to let love command her, but the promise of a better life for her and her mother.
You feel that you're in the movie. That you know the characters personally. talagang kumakabog ang puso sa awa at galit sa mga scenes.
This film has gotta be the best acted film of Ate Shawee in all her films that I've seen her so far. I can't empashize that enough. She surpassed Ate Vi and Ate guy sa acting nya dito. Swear! Mamatay ka man.
- Except for Tonton, the cast ensemble has great chemistry and great interaction. Loretta did a great job being the doormat mom. Mark was perfect as the asshole jerk.
- This film was very well made, technically speaking. Wala akong makitang flaw. The shots were all amazing. Yay, Lino!
- The ending sucks!!! Helllloooo??? No, titah. Ipapakulong ko sya at ipapakuryente ko badoodles nya 'no!!!???
Main message of the movie (which hindi nyo dapat sundin, kunti hahantingin ko kayo at ilulublob ko mukha nyo sa inidoro na puno ng ebs para maliwanagan ang kukote mo!!!)
- Kung saan ka nadapa, dun ka babangon
My verdict? 4.5 Utots. Although the movie is technically flawless, the ending made me feel cheated and jaded. Di ako happy sa ending no??? Pero it's totally worth it for the great acting alone. Pag nag-direct na ako ng movie, I'll surely take this film as a reference.
