Kaputol Ng Isang Awit

Kaputol ng isang awit Film/Movie Review
1991
Directed by: Emmanuel H. Borlaza
Genre: Drama / Musical

CAST:

Sharon Cuneta
Gary Valenciano
Tonton Gutierrez
Eddie Mesa
Loreta Marquez
Amy Perez
Barbara Perez

Hello dear fans!!!

PLOT:

KNIA is a complicated story of a family, mala-STAR WARS. That is, Luke and Leia didn't know that they were siblings, and they were sorta falling in love.

Let it be said, that this is the worst Sharon Cuneta film that I have ever seen so far.

So after a few song numbers (na buo talaga, hindot!), nalaman sa huli na yung tatay ni Sharon eh nasa bilibid for a crime that he didn't commit.

Ugh, just the idea sickens me. Hello? Star Wars?

In simplicity, there is beauty.

As usualy, the usual Maning Borlaza signature, lahat ng kanta eh tinatapos. Gawd, so unnecessary this process.

Sa totoo lang, it was very painful to watch this film.

Sorry Tita Shawee, you know I love you, but this film sucks! I give it 0 Utot.

TULI

TULI Film/ Movie Review
2005
Directed by: Auraeus Solito
Written by: Jimmy Flores
Genre:Drama

CAST:

Desiree Del Valle ... Daisy
Carlo Aquino
Vanna Garcia ... Botchok
Bembol Roco
Luis Alandy
Eugene Domingo
Ama Quiambao

Hello dear fans!!!

PLOT:

TULI is the story of a woman who lives in a very conservative barrio (small town) ruled by men. Her father is the town's circumsicer. He is abusive and a drunkard. Since she was young, she has always seen women being maltreated and objectified. Instead of growing up as one of the women who waits hand and foot for their men, Desiree's character grown to be quite the opposite. She's strong, brave and fought for her love that transverses the town's culture and beliefs.

First of all, bravo to Viva Films for getting this kind of film made. It was a very bold move. And it paid off.

TULI's setting was in a very conservative barrio, where everyone knows anyone. There are two main characters in the story, the main one is Desiree's, and the other one is Carlo's.

Carlo is the only incircumcised man in the barrio. For this, he was humiliated by all, as being uncircumcised means you are not yet a man.

Desiree has seen the how women are badly treated. She has seen this first-hand from her father, who drinks all the time and beats up their family.

Enter Vanna, Desiree's childhood playmate. She was left by her boyfriend. Desiree to the rescue. She has always admired Vanna, and the two formed a relationship which is more than friendship.

Their love blossomed. They both wanted a child, and they seek Carlo to provide the missing ingredient. When the townsfolk knew about this, they formed an angry mob, but in the end, love won over hate.

I love this film. I can't emphasize this enough, this is a very brave film, considering that this is a Filipino film. No dancing, or toilet humor or shooting guns here. Just a wonderful, wonderful love story between two women. When I was watching this film and I haven't seen the ending, I thought "uh, huh. Typical, the other woman would probably run away with a man, or one of them will be dead or both of them will be dead." Boy, was I wrong.

Desiree's acting was magnificent. You can really emphatize with her character. In my opinion, she could be one of the of the most beautiful actresses in the Philippine cinema today.

Her character was calm, but strong. Proving my point that you don't have to over-act to get the message across the screen. Her eyes speak to you.

Pinoy's who grew up in a foreign land will appreciate this film, since it shows a lot of our old Filipino culture, especially during the lenten season, which is coming up.

Although I love the story, the pacing of the film was slow and boring. There were also some "shaky moments" with the cameras.

I highly recommend this film. Film buffs will appreciate this. It goes to show that not all Pinoy films are stupid, sexist and shoots at being commercial box office success only. Pinoy films can also be intelligent and brave, like this one.

Sad to say, I read that this film was banned in the Philippines. I think that's a stupid move. When are you gonna grow up, people? Open your minds!

Anywho, I give this film 5 Utots. This is a must-see and must-add to your collection. I hope that this film is not the first and last of its kind in the Philippine cinema.

Oh My Ghost

Oh, My Ghost! Film/Movie Review
2006
Directed by: Tony Y. Reyes
Genre: Comedy

CAST:

Rufa Mae Quinto
Marvin Agustin
Carlos Agassi
Wally Bayola
Paolo Contis
Uma Khouny
Bianca King
Jose Manalo
Sugar Mercado
Jimmy Santos

PLOT:

OMG is your typical, you kill me, I haunt you and then I kill you type of story. Vengeance is key.

Dahil dito, pinagtangkaan syang kidnapin, kaso, she died in the process. Then her ghost haunted them down.

Helllooo? Pwede ba, pansinin naman nila ang ibang talent ni my darling Rufa, dahil hindi lang naman boobs ang katangian nya ‘no? I should’ve known, the people who created this movie, are the same people who create Vic Sotto’s movies, which are so chauvinistic and sexist in nature. Oh, e no surprises there ano?

She was asking for trouble talaga.

The camera angles and movement were horrible in this film.

Sayang ang talent ni Rufa ditto, kasi this could’ve been a good horror/vengeance film, pero they tried hard to incorporate the funny scenes. But neither, no? It’s a confused genre, that’s all.

Sayang talaga, there are dramatic scenes where Rufa cried, which are ok na sana, tapos bigla na lang hahaluan ng comedy. Nawawala tuloy ang sympathy ko for the main character.

This film is horrible and should not be watched by all women.

One thing that I noticed pa is how ugly Carlos Agassi has become.

OA ang mga supporting characters dito, like ni Jose (which is my most hated character in this film). Grabe kung sigaw-sigawan nya yung sekretarya nila. It’s not fucking funny at all. Women are treated like shit in this film. Yung sekretarya naman, kung sino man sya, helllooo? She wasn’t treated as a human being in this film which infuriates me.

My verdict, 1 Utot. Rufa-Mae, please lang, stop making these stupid films. You are more than just a great pair of tits, darling. Lumipat ka kaya ng Star Cinema?

Helllllooo dear fans!!!

PLOT:

Now That I Have You is your typical pinoy love story. John and Bea met at the MRT bus station after months of the girl stalking this boy, and the rest is history.

So itong si Bea eh ini-stalk si John for the past months para makilala nya.

Nikki was great as Bea’s confidante. I first saw Nikki sa Tanging Ina film, and I really loved her. I still do.

Bea is very lovable as the crazy, jealous, possessive girlfriend. She’s one of my fave young actresses today.

John is very cute as the nerdy accountant. Ok din sya umarte. Natural.

Love is to trust your partner. You do not own anybody.

Otherwise, the directing was good. It wasn’t boring. I like the fact that they showed the MRT station. It was a very nice touch. I give this film 3 Utots.
